HTTP Analyzer – View, Monitor, Track and Analyze HTTP
Software developer IEInspector Software LLC has three products to offer. The company markets AxScripter, a JavaScript, VBScript and HTML scripts debugger, IE WebDeveloper, a rich web debugging tool for Internet Explorer, and last but not least, HTTP Analyzer.
Putting the spotlight on the last one, on HTTP Analyzer, here is what you can do with this application: you can view HTTP, you can monitor HTTP, you can capture HTTP, you can track and you can analyze HTTP. To put it bluntly, this application is a HTTP monitor, HTTP sniffer and HTTP tracer.
There are two HTTP Analyzer versions. First there’s the standalone application for Windows. With this application you can capture and view HTTP/HTTPS traffic from a specific process or user/session/system wide. The standalone application works with Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome and Firefox. Then there’s the HTTP Analyzer add-on that works with Internet Explorer and Firefox. The add-on integrates into IE or Firefox and allows the user to capture and view HTTP/HTTPS traffic of current IE or Firefox process.
If I had to choose I would go for the standalone version, simply because it provides support for more browsers and works with win32 web applications.
Don’t expect much from HTTP Analyzer in terms of user friendliness. All the functionality HTTP Analyzer provides is meant for the advanced and pro user who knows what he is doing. If you’re a novice, and all this talk about HTTP left you scratching your head, do not expect to be able to use HTTP Analyzer like its no thing.
Should you decide to download and test HTTP Analyzer – the standalone version – there are a few additional details you need to know about. First of all you need to know that the download weighs in at some 6MB. It shouldn’t take long to get the application off the web and onto your computer. Once downloaded, the application has to be installed – it works with XP, Vista, and Windows 7. You can use HTTP Analyzer free of charge during a trial period of 15 days. The trial version only displays extended HTTP information for a limited number of sites. Once the 15-day trial period expires, you need to get a license to keep using HTTP Analyzer.
